grapheme-colour-synesthesia

is my most intense type. for me every letter, word and number has a distinct colour. my mum discovered this in me when I was only 7yo and the asigned colours stayed the exact same over the years. thinking of a letter in a different colour causes weird discomfort for many synesthetes with this type. GCS is a great help when memorizing pin codes, vocabulary or phone numbers. it’s important to mention again, that this is not anywhere close to a halluzination. the colours are percieved in your minds eye.

so when every letter has a colour you percieve the world a bit like these designs. if you follow the seam on one of the images you can follow the numbers from 1-9, the one with shades of blues and greens show the colour different words have to me, the one with a “V” is a friends name as a design, and the rather hectic design of an underpass is a synesthetic depiction of the colours of my name “maike”.
